The Metro Detroit Birthworkers Collective provides support, resources, community connections, networking opportunities, and business development education to its members. In addition, we continue to build awareness around the roles and benefits of doulas and other perinatal professionals through a variety of community driven events. Through our Mentorship Model, the Collective is helpful to both experienced professionals who have a lot of wisdom to share, and those new to the birth world looking to learn from others’ experiences in both perinatal support and business development.
Our mission is to provide a network for local birth professionals to work together and support one another through fellowship, collaboration, education, and community relations. We also strengthen the community by connecting families to services that are in line with their goals and philosophy.

Special Note from Christie:
I am not a professional medical biller.
I am a doula just like you, and I know I don't know everything, but I'm willing and eager to build up the birthworker community. The Medicaid process has a lot of steps and feels very overwhelming to most doulas, and I want to do what I can to make it feel less intimidating. I believe this program has real value to families who need doula services but otherwise couldn't afford it, but it needs to be accessible and sustainable to doulas in order to work! I'm not a medical biller by trade, but I've been successfully billing my own claims since the program started in January 2023, and I've learned a lot so far. And I want to help other doulas be successful so we can all help more families. ♡
